Sabbath Queen Film Screening and Q&A
Sabbath Queen is a provocative and awe-inspiring film about an Orthodox Israeli who embraces his queerness, moves to NYC, joins the radical fairies, becomes a drag queen and a rabbi, and uses drag and other theatrical practices toward his progressive activism on a number of fronts within and beyond the Jewish world. It’s also a fascinating window into the complexity, diversity, and porousness of contemporary American Jewish life. See Prof. Moskowitz’s review of the film in the most recent issue of AJS Perspectives: https://www.associationforjewishstudies.org/publications-research/ajs-perspectives
Catch a screening of the film and subsequent Q&A with the film’s director, Sandi DuBowski, on the evening of Wednesday, September 17th at the Zeitgeist Theater. Our faculty member Prof. Golan Moskowitz will moderated the Q&A.
Venue: Zeitgeist Theater, 6621 St Claude Ave, Arabi, LA 70032
