Wild Visionary: A Book Launch and Conversation on Maurice Sendak

The Stuart and Suzanne Grant Center for the American Jewish Experience at Tulane University hosted this discussion on Maurice Sendak in celebration of the book launch of Tulane Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies, Golan Moskowitz. His book on Maurice Sendak, Wild Visionary: Maurice Sendak in Queer Jewish Context, was published by Stanford University Press in December 2020. Professor Moskowitz is joined in discussion by acclaimed authors Gregory Maguire and Brian Selznick. Maguire is the author of Wicked, on which the award-winning Broadway musical is based, and several dozen crossover books for adults and children. Selznick is the author and illustrator of many books for children, including The Invention of Hugo Cabret, winner of the Caldecott medal and the basis for the Oscar-winning movie Hugo. The discussion was moderated by Marah Gubar, Associate Professor of Literature at MIT.
